9/2/2008Dear Countdowners,
Quick update, the prospective buyers and I have begun negotiating on a couple points. We should know how much common ground
we have by the end of the week.

7/31/2008Dear Countdowners,
It's been a lot of fun watching the traffic to both the house and the website grow as the price decreases but after dropping the asking price by $75,000 and
making the house the best deal in Bothell at $145/sq foot, it's time to end the countdown phase of this experiment. Many thanks to everyone who has lended a hand and offered their support.
If you think the new price, the beautifully remodeled kitchen, marble-tiled bathrooms, newly landscaped front yard, and the huge wrap-around deck
are right for you and you haven't had a chance to come by yet, let me or your agent know and we'll setup a tour for you.
As always, thanks for your interest and feel free to
email me with any questions.

7/24/2008Dear Countdowners,
Wow, we've dropped a total of $60,000. The house is now one of the best values in Bothell, and it's easy to see why. The average selling price
for comparable homes in Bothell since the countdown began has been $221/sq ft.
The current price asking price for the BC house of $150/sq ft, is 30% less than the average selling price
in this area. That's like taking a home with a beautifully remodeled kitchen, marble-tiled bathrooms, newly landscaped front yard, and a huge wrap-around deck in a great
neighborhood, and putting it in Amazon's Gold Box.
Of course all of this data is available on Redfin, so feel free to
check it out yourself.
With the increased sales activity in June, I can't be sure how many price drops are left.
If you haven't had a chance
to come by, now would be a good time. Feel free to contact me or
let your agent know if you'd like a tour.
Thank you for your interest and feel free to
email me with any questions.

7/3/2008Dear Countdowners,
This week's price is another $10,000 lower and officially puts the house within the top 5% of deals within Bothell.
This house's $156/square foot price tag beats 130 other three, four, and five bedroom homes in the Bothell area,
and makes it one of the best deals in Bothell. Not to mention the newly remodeled kitchen and bathrooms mean it's a better deal
than even a fixer-upper.
All of this data is available on Redfin, so feel free to
check it out yourself (note: it may take a couple days for this home's new price to show up).
If you think the current asking price is still too high and you haven't had a chance
to come by, please do. The open house is a great opportunity to see what's in
the photos in person and I think
you'll be surprised by the beautiful landscaping, views from the deck & balcony,
and the terrific neighborhood.
Prefer to tour with a bit more privacy? No problem, just shoot me an email and
we'll schedule a time, or of course, your agent can let you in anytime.
Thanks for your interest and feel free to
email me with any questions.

5/28/2008Dear Future Home Owner,
You and I have a lot in common. We're both getting ready
for big changes, we both value quality and we're both drawn to the tranquility
and proximity that make north King County a great place to live. In addition,
getting a fair price is a priority for both of us.
Welcome to the Bothell Countdown where we'll acheive our goals together. The idea
is simple and starts as soon as you
decide a fair price for the house. If you think the current price is too
high, wait a week and I'll lower it by as much as $10,000. Each week, I'll
continue to lower the price until you, or someone else, thinks it's fair and
submit an offer. From there on out, we proceed just like any other real estate
transaction complete with contingencies, inspections, negotiations, and so on.
To get started, take a look at some of the photos and
stats I've compiled of the house, join the email list so you know when the
price drops and even arrange to tour the house. By the
time we're finished, we'll have settled upon a fair price and both be excited
about what we've accomplished.
Sincerely,
Justin Wilcox
